Sandra Atwater, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted servant of her faith, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia. Born on September 22, 1955, in Palmetto, Georgia, Sandra's life was one marked by dedication to her family, community, and her unwavering Christian beliefs.
Throughout her life, Sandra was known for her generous spirit and her commitment to helping others. She was married to the late Rick Atwater and together they shared a loving family. As a stay-at-home mom to five children, Sandra's nurturing presence was a cornerstone in her household. Her legacy continues through her children: Brenda Barlow, Eric Menefee, Tracy Menefee, Olivia Foster, and Charles Foster.
Sandra's community knew her as a steadfast volunteer and active participant at the church, where she organized food drives, toy drives, back to school drives, and fed the homeless. Her home was always open to those in need, and she never hesitated to offer help or share a meal with anyone who came knocking at her door. Her acts of kindness were reflections of her deep faith and the unconditional love she extended to all.
Sandra was predeceased by her husband, Rick Atwater; her father, Harvey Menefee; her mother, Elizabeth Menefee; her brother, George Menefee; and her sister, Phyllis Worthy. She is survived by her six sisters, five children, 23 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
