Samuel Summerhill, a beloved father, grandfather, and Army veteran, passed away on April 18, 2024, in Florence, Alabama. He was born on January 16, 1958, to Sammy Lee Summerhill and Mildred Marie Murphy. He was raised by his loving aunt, Gertrude Pearsall.

Samuel leaves behind a loving family, including his two children, Courtney P. Summerhill (Kartez Littleton) and Devonna G. Summerhill. He also leaves behind one cherished grandchild, Kamari Littleton and favorite niece, Kendria “Nanna” Williams.

”Sammy T” as he was widely known was preceded in death by siblings Dennis Summerhill, Ernest Murphy, and Annie Johnson. He is survived by siblings James Edwards (Sheralane) ,Tommy Summerhill, Sharon Reynolds and Linda Summerhill and a number of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Samuel proudly served in the Army, dedicating his life to protecting his country and the freedoms we hold dear. His bravery and commitment to his fellow soldiers will always be remembered.

Throughout his life, Samuel was known for his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. He had a way of making everyone around him feel loved and valued. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Samuel's passing was a result of a sudden heart attack, which occurred at home with his longtime friends Tammy Combs Burt and David Simpson. Though his time with us was cut short, his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

A memorial service will be announced soon.
