The Leader of The Band

Samuel Emmauel Davis, a beloved member of the Brockton community, passed away on May 29, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on April 29, 1947, Samuel lived a full and vibrant life, touching the hearts of all who knew him. He was known for his kind and gentle demeanor, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Samuel had a passion for traveling and spent countless hours driving his family to various beautiful locations that brought joy to all who were involved such as Cape Code, Plymouth, Martha's Vineyard and was also very fond of visiting flea markets. His kids jokingly compared him to Redd Fox from Sanford and Son.  He will be deeply missed by his friends and neighbors, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and generosity. Samuel who was mostly referred to and called Johnny by those who knew him, was very welcoming to everyone that he met.

His favorite child was his first-born son, Samuel Anthony.

He is survived by his wife Franceen Olivia Davis (nee Walcott). His eldest daughter, Gloria Mary Eldica St.Fort (nee Davis), 2nd oldest daughter Nicole Joanna Halverson (nee Davis), 3rd daughter CathyAnn Davis, 4th daughter Antonette Susan Joell (nee Davis), Asanta Bibi Johnson (nee Davis), 1st son Samuel Anthony, John (JJ) Davis, Darryl Davis and beloved stepson Cecil Erin Rise. He is perceived in death by his first wife Cynthia Davis (nee Navarro) and son Damian William Jonathan and his older brother Nathaniel. He leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Johnny was born and raised in Port of Spain on the Island of Trinidad and Tobago. He was the 3rd child of William and Geraldine Davis (nee Baptiste). His siblings were older sister Mary, older brother Nathaniel and younger brother Percival. Right after graduating from secondary (high school) school, Johnny served in the British Navy in his younger years and after returning to Trinidad, he served as a minister, a family-owned restaurateur and also as a local town selectman in the town of Sangre Grande where he raised his family.

After the passing of his first wife Cynthia, Johnny moved his children to America to be closer to his mother that lived in Boston, Massachusetts in June of 1989. Like most islanders coming to the US, Johnny held multiple jobs such as a security guard and patient care specialist simultaneously. His loved and dedication to family and doing things as a group is a major part of his legacy that he leaves behind.
