CEDAR RAPIDS – Sally Rohrer, 77, of Cedar Rapids, joined the Heavenly throne in Heaven on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, as she fought a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation: 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at Salem United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids. Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at the church, conducted by Rev. John Luke and Rev. Leonard Doc Ranson. Burial will be held at a later date.Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Charles; sisters: Vivian N. Legreid, Joan (Darrell) Pint of Jesup; brother, Alan (Judy) D. Kress of Independence; daughter, Toni (Rob) of North English; three granddaughters: Kelsey (Andy) Anthony of Cedar Rapids, Alexis Rohrer and Allicia Rohrer; great-granddaughter, Adelaide Anthony of Cedar Rapids; great-grandson, Maxwell Anthony of Cedar Rapids; nieces and nephews: Sonya (Keith) Richardson, Benita Hinsey, Kevin (Juanita) Legreid, Lorna (Dennis) Legreid, Bruce Pint, Todd( Shelli) Pint, Troy (Donna) Pint, Shawn and Craig Kress, Alan (Judy) Kress; a special friend, Lou Ann Yacoub; and a host of friends near and far.She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Bernice Kress and brother, Richard D. Kress.Sally was born on January 30, 1940, in Quasqueton, the daughter of Carl and Bernice (Butterfield) Kress.Sally was active in many groups, she was President of the Victor Women's Club and she served the Grinnell Christian Women's Club in many capacities. She spoke to many groups in Victor and Brooklyn areas. In 1978, she received the Writer's Award from the American Association of Patient Account Managers. She was a hospice worker for many years. Sally loved to entertain often having tea parties or entertaining guests for dinner. She loved fashion and always dressed so pristine. Sally loved to help anyone, especially the elderly and served on the Iowa County Task Force and had several nursing home ministries.Sally and her husband spent many hours decorating cakes for weddings, graduations and many other occasions, as well as designing floral bouquets for weddings and decorating tables for different occasions. She enjoyed Red Hat activities in the Cedar Rapids area. Sally had numerous other activities but the most important thing in her life was humbly serving her Lord and Savior. She held many offices in Church Women Groups and held many offices in Churches. She completed a course in Lay Speaking Ministry of the local United Methodist Church. Sally finished an orientation to pastoral care, she completed the Stephen's Ministry Courses and served as a Pastoral Care Minister. Sally was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids Emmaus Community, member of the White Shrine in Waterloo and also the church at Brethren.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Salem United Methodist Church or Mercy Hospice.Please share a memory of Sally at www.murdochfuneralhome.com under obituaries.
