S. Lindsey HeadMadisonLindsey Head, 89, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.Lindsey was born on April 29, 1928 in Inverness, MS to the late Leonard George and Neva Lindsey Head. He graduated from Central High School and Millsaps College. He married the love of his life, Aletha Ann King, in 1950. Soon after, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he taught electronics at Keesler Air Force Base.During his lifetime he owned and operated many business including: "Lindsey Head's" (fine men's clothing) in Brookhaven, the "Little Kitchen" restaurant in Philadelphia, MS, the "Green Derby" in Jackson, and for 64 years he has served "Lindsey's Lemonade" at the Neshoba County Fair. In addition to owning many businesses, he was a Certified Life Underwriter and sold insurance most of his adult life. Lindsey was a Master Mason, Scottish Rite Mason, and York Rite Mason. He was a member of Wyatt-Carter Lodge #636 where he was the oldest living Demolay in Mississippi. He was also a member of Wahabi Shrine in which he held such positions as Captain of Patrol, Director of UAA, and Potentate in 1996. He loved to travel, enjoyed fine dining, horse racing and gaming, but above all he loved his family- especially his grandchildren and beloved wife of 60 years, Aletha.He is preceded in death by his wife, Aletha Ann King Head; parents; brother, Leonard "George" Head, Jr, and sister, Rose McAlevy.Lindsey is survived by his sons, William Head (Jennifer) and Harold Head (Amy); and grandchildren, William Lindsey Head (Shanna), Zachary Lee Head, and Ava Mackenzie Head.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the in Shreveport, LA at www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org or 3100 Samford Ave., Shreveport, LA 71103 or Wahabi Transportation Fund One, 4123 I-55 S., Jackson, MS 39212.Please visit lakewoodfuneralhomes.com for online guestbook.
