Maigatter, RuthRuth (Lichterman) Maigatter, 90, of Kewaunee was called home on August 5, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born on January 26th 1927 in Kewaunee to the late Theodore and Mae (Ouradnik) Lichterman.After graduating from Kewaunee High School, 1945, Ruth worked in Kewaunee at the Union State Bank for over 30 years. It was while working there that she met and later married Harold Maigatter on July 23rd, 1949 at Holy Rosary Church. Here she was a life-long member along with being a member of the Rosary Society. That blessed union resulted in four children who carry on Ruth's legacy : Linda (Michael) Tiry, Chippewa Falls, WI, Lois (Randy) Dickson, Middleton, WI, Lee (Beverly) Maigatter, Kewaunee, Lora (Tom) Kenfield, Kenosha, WI; nine grandchildren: Naomi (Xavier) Salgado, Sarah (Chad) Pelishek, Leah (Erik) Lietz, Anna Tiry, Charissa Tiry, Darcy (Spencer) Stagman, Deana (Joe) Protz, John Manuel Maigatter (Meghan), Kristen Kenfield; eight great grandchildren: Marcos, Megan, Riley, Sofia, Miranda, Ashlynn, Caleb and Will; two sisters-in-law: Janet Maigatter, Kewaunee and Iva Lichterman, Appleton. She was preceded in death by Harold, her parents, two brothers and a sister-in-law: Kenneth (Eleanor), Lynn Lichterman and nephew, Jerry Lichterman. As well as six brothers-in law and four sister-in-laws: Ray (Madonna), William, David, three sisters: Esther (Gilbert) Geier, Eleanor (Frank) Bruemmer-Swintoske and Edna (Joe) McCarville.Friends may call on Friday, August 11 from 11:30 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 3:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Kewaunee. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery.Family and friends will fondly remember Ruth's expertise in the kitchen! She, along with Harold, were masters at making soup, canning vegetables, baking cookies & kolaches. She often gave back to the community by sharing her tasty food. Ruth's talents also included knitting. She was a member of the Algoma Sweater Knitters, which sends knitted sweaters to those in need all around the world. Many family members and others will now be cherishing and remembering Ruth lovingly as they wear their hand-knitted mittens from her. Ruth's last project was making hot pads, from recycled materials. These hot pads have been given away locally as well as globally by family members in their domestic and international travels.Ruth's smile and chuckle will serve as an internal flame in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
