BURLINGTON - Russ Reesman, 70, died peacefully October 30, 2014 at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington, surrounded by his family, after a valiant fight against prostate cancer. He was born on March 28, 1944 to the late Florence (Schaefer) and Edward Reesman in Burlington, WI. He was a lifetime resident of Burlington and attended St. Charles Elementary School and St. Mary’s High School, graduating in 1962. Russ married the love of his life, Mary Lu (Wall) Reesman, at St. Anastasia Church in Waukegan, IL on Feb. 24, 1968. Their 46 years together were filled with love, laughter, friendship, travels, and pride in their children and grandchildren. He worked as a construction electrician out of the IBEW Local 494 in Milwaukee, until he retired in 2006. He was a Journeyman Wireman and Journeyman Lineman. Russ was a US Marine Corps combat veteran, having served in Viet Nam from 1965-1967. He was a life member of the VFW, Anderson-Murphy Post 2823; a member of the Marine Corps League, Fox River Detachment #590; and a longtime member of the Burlington Conservation Club. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lu; son, Paul Reesman (wife, Leah); daughter, Beth Holloway (husband, Eric); sister, Rita Gorman; sister-in-law, Jean Reesman; grandchildren, Reese and Riley Holloway, and Rachael and Nathan Reesman, nieces and nephews, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Dorothy (Herda) Reesman; brother, Robert Reesman; and brother-in-law, Tom Gorman. Russ was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and trapshooting. He especially loved the many hunting, fishing and snowmobiling trips with his son. He loved traveling all over the world, and New Zealand was one of his favorite places. He was especially excited to have traveled to South Africa with his daughter. He loved telling jokes and could usually be found with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. He was a proud father and grandfather, and got many of his biggest laughs with his grandchildren. A Memorial Mass for Russ will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 449 Conkey St., Burlington, WI 53105 with Rev. Yamid Blanco presiding.
