Ruby Willis, beloved mother, grandmother, and pillar of the Greater Open Doors Baptist Church organization, passed away on October 20, 2025, in her hometown of Chicago, Illinois, United States. She was born on June 29, 1953, to her loving parents Melvin Willis and Anita Smith.
Ruby leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to her family. She is survived by her six children: Melvin Burnham (spouse Clinell Burnham), Velma Huff (spouse Lonnie Huff), Phylis Brown (spouse John Brown), Stein Burnham, Barbara Jones (spouse Henry Jones), and Kelvin Burnham (spouse Katrina Burnham). She was also a cherished grandmother to ten grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Ruby found joy in serving others, especially through her role as an Usher at the Greater Open Doors Baptist Church. Her dedication and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.
Tragically, Ruby's life was cut short by breast cancer, a battle she fought with grace and bravery until the end. Though she may be gone, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Rest in peace, dear Ruby. You will be forever missed and remembered.
