Ruby Cason Hughes, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on September 5, 2025, at 92 in Newark, New Jersey. Born on September 27, 1937, to Uriah and Rosa Lee Cason, Ruby lived a vibrant and fulfilling life.

Educated in Dublin Public School, and attended the Buckeye School in Laurence, Co. When arriving in Newark, NJ, he attended and graduated the Scott's Beauty Culture.

She married the love of her life, Carroll Hughes, in 1960, and together they raised their daughter, Gail Cason Parker, whom she adored. Ruby was also a proud grandmother to three grandchildren, Jameelah Cason, Abdullah Cason, and Rahim Cason. Great-grandmother to Andre Fuller Bey Sr with Jahidy Fuller Bey and Aliyyah Fuller. Great Great-grandmother to AbdulRaheem Drake and Andre Fuller Bey Jr.

Ruby dedicated many years of her life working at the Veterans Administration Hospital, where she made a positive impact on countless lives. She enjoyed visiting the casino and trying her luck at the slot machines in her free time.

Although we will miss her dearly, we take comfort in knowing that Ruby lived a full and joyous life. We will always cherish the memories we shared with her.
