Ruby “Nanny” MCoy was born August 9, 1942 to the late Will McClelland and the late Elizabeth King. She was he youngest of eight children, She confessed her life to God at an early age and was a member of St. Peter United Methodist church in Marion, MS and later moved her membership to New Era Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health failed.

Ruby was joined in Holy Matrimony on July 3, 1982 to the late Mark McCoy. Ruby was a great cook, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. She nurtured and reared many children and earned the name Granny from many.

Ruby transitioned to her heavenly home Wednesday, January 31st ,2024 at 10:30 A.M. at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Mark McCoy; her parents: Will McClelland and Elizabeth King; six siblings: Annie Kate Dunnigan, Margie Ree Dunnigan, Alma Lee Smith, Willie B. McClelland, Arthur Lee Griffin, Roosevelt McClelland; and three children: James Amison, Joann Davis & Irvin Yarbrough.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one sister, Bessie Mae Lee of Meridian, MS; 10 children: Lakeita (Ashley) Wheaton of North Carolina; Edrick (Dominique) Yarbrough & Brenda Yarbrough of Memphis, Tennessee; Donna (George) Johnson, Letitia (Ashley) Yarbrough, Sharlicia (Barraka Sr.) Bland, Mary Cox, Carla McClelland, Derrick Fluker and Wanaca Brown all of Meridian, MS; and 4 special grandkids: Lameikia Lockhart of Delaware; Tierra Yarbrough, Johnny (Maretta) McClellan, Anthony Brown of Meridian, MS; and a host of grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, and nephews.
