KEITH, Roy L. "Jack"Roy L. "Jack" Keith of Montgomery, Alabama died Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the age of 93 after a lengthy illness. Jack was born on November 1, 1923 in Centralia, Illinois. Like many of his generation he joined the Army during World War II. While stationed at Ft. Benning in Columbus, Georgia he went on a blind date with Mattie Cannon and his life was changed forever. Though they only dated three months before their marriage on March 17, 1945, their love endured for 55 years until her death in 2000.He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Cliff Massey of Titus, Alabama and their children Keith (Jessica) Massey of Nashville, Tennessee and Kelley (Cory) McCarty of Birmingham, Alabama. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren, Carter, Olivia, Bronwyn, Taryn, and Piper. In addition, Jack is survived by an older sister, Frances Thayer, and younger brother, Don Keith.Jack was a member of Frazer Methodist Church and a founding member of Arrowhead Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf with the Top of the Hill Gang. He also enjoyed fishing and was an avid reader. His imagination and stories will keep his family entertained for years to come. He was always an optimist even during difficult times.There will be a private family service at a later date.
