He served our nation honorably in the United States Army and retired after 22 years of service. Afterward, Roy worked as a civilian contractor, a corrections officer, and at Knouse Foods. Roy's interest was in history. He reenacted the French and Indian War, Revolutionary War and the Civil War and volunteered for the Park Service in St. Augustine, FL as a Spanish Soldier at the Castillo de San Marcos. Roy was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Roy is survived by his wife of 34 years, Dorothy Long; parents, Roy and Eleanor Long Jr. of Palm Coast, FL; sons, Matthew Long, John Long, Andrew Long; daughter, Caroline Long; brother, Robert Long of Winder, GA; sister, Linda Curtis of Manassas, VA; grandchildren, Kristin Long, Olivia Long and Julia Long. Roy is predeceased by his brother, Ronald Long. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 at 11 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg. The burial will be on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, Virginia.
