Rosa Nell Smithzer, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on January 14, 2026, in Cope, South Carolina, United States.

Born on January 5, 1948 in Cope, South Carolina, to Henry and Bessie Smithzer, Rosa was known for her vibrant personality and kind heart. She married Walter Smithzer in 1968 and together they raised six children: Barry, Harold (Patricia), Edward, Michael (Robin), Cheranda (Benjamin), and Suzanne.

Rosa was a graduate of Edisto High School and had a passion for gardening. She could often be found tending to her flowers and vegetables, which brought her great joy.

She is survived by her loving family, including 10 grandchildren. Rosa will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

May she rest in peace, free from pain and surrounded by the beauty of the gardens she loved so much.

The viewing will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Carroll Mortuary of Bamberg, South Carolina from 1:00pm until 7:00pm.

The funeral will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Cope, South Carolina, 29038, beginning at 2:30pm.
