Rosa Bell Emanuel passed on 7/30/24 at the age of 93, born Rosa Bell Johnson February 2, 1931 to parents Henry Johnson Sr. and Matilda Johnson, in Pine Bluff Arkansas.  Niece to Martin and Ida Johnson (deceased), sister to Henry Johnson Jr. (deceased), Rosa was raised by her grandmother Mariah Riddick (deceased), after her mother passed when she was 28 days old.  

At an early age, Rosa joined the Gospel Temple Baptist Church in Pine Bluff Arkansas.  She married her first husband Warner Smith at the age of 16. She later divorced and migrated to Chicago at the age of 23, where she met and married Ozie Emanuel (deceased).  

She worked for St Joseph Hospital in Chicago for 2 years, then the Chicago Board of Education until she retired in 1980. After retirement, for many years Rosa provided assistance to her children with the raising of her grandchildren. 

Cherished and beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Rosa is survived by her loving sons Kenneth Emanuel, Ozie Emanuel Jr. Her daughter Marquita Johnson, proceeded her in death. Rosa has 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
