Romelia R. Rascon, 94, of Calexico, CA passed away of natural causes, on Wednesday, October 19, 2016. Romelia was born on July 14, 1922 in Sahuaripa, Sonora. Romelia was such a strong, loveable and caring person. Her pride and joy was taking care of her family with lots of love, empathy and guidance. But most of all, was her love for cooking, feeding everyone and anyone that walked through her house made her most happy. Mom, Nana, we will miss your caldos, empanadas and your famous tacos. She will be strongly missed by all the people whose lives she has touched throughout the years. Love you Mom. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aurelio Rascon of 60 years. She is survived by her children, Manuel (Carol), Gilbert (Edna), Ruben, Margaret (Daniel) Vela, Javier (Ann Marie), all of El Centro, Enrique (Alicia), Jose (Sylvia) of Calexico, Aurelio (Sylvia) of San Diego, Sergio of El Cajon and Cecila (Roberto) Castro of Long Beach, CA; 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 from 6 to 9 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary in Calexico, CA. Mass will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Calexico, CA. Burial will immediately follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico, CA.
