Onstad, RollandRolland (Rolly, Roll) L. Onstad, age 93, of Berlin, died peacefully on April 10, 2017 at his home, surrounded by the loving care of his family and the St. Agnes Hospice Hope.He was born on May 20, 1923, in Fargo, ND, the sone of Edward and Agnes (Gjewold) Onstad. He was a graduate of Fargo High School class of 1941.On September 16, 1944, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Lois (Kay) Rustvold in Casper, Wyoming. They were blessed with 64 years of marriage.Rolly was in the 203rd Army Air Corp from June 1941through September 1945, as a Radio Operator and Gunner in B-24 aircraft. He was stationed in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska.Rolly and Kay lived in Fargo, ND for sometime and moved to Madison, WI where Rolly attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, for Electrical Engineering. He bagan working at Wisconsin Power and Light in September of 1947 and retired in July 1985.Rolly was a great golfer. He also enjoyed swimming, fishing, gardening, and loved playing cribbage. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.He was active in Rotary International and the American Legion. Roll and Kay were always there when someone needed a hand and always remembered friends and family at Christmas with homemade gifts. They were always doing something kind for people in a special and quiet way.Both were members of Grace English Lutheran Church of Berlin. Rolly sang in choir and they loved to be in the nursery on the Sundays that he did not sing in the choir.He was preceded in death by his parents; Loving Wife, Kay; three brothers, and two sisters.Roll is survived and loved by his daughter, Susan (Sue) Onstad-Kelley and her significant other, Carlton Rohm of Seymour; three beloved grandchildren, Katherine (Mike) Hartjes of Kaukauna, Rebecca (Chad) Born of Brillion, and Christopher (Chantelle) Onstad of Appleton. He is further survived by five great grandchildren, Brandon, Rebecca, Taiven, Davis and Anika, along with many other dear family and friends.Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home of Berlin from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. A Memorial service will be held after the visitation at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by the VFW Wells-Krause Post #2925 at 2:30 p.m.A luncheon will be held after the Memorial Service in the Funeral Home Family Center.Please refer to [email protected] for more information and to view the tribute video.Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home116.
