Smith, RogerRoger M. Smith, age 66, of Appleton, died Thursday, August 17, 2017. He was born on May 13, 1951. He served his country in the US Navy. On June 21, 20012, Roger married Cindy Blank at Grace Lutheran Church in Winchester. Roger loved cooking, and worked as a chef at Butch's Anchor Inn in Oshkosh for several years. He also enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Brewers, Timber Rattlers and the local VFW teams. He was a member of Twin City Rod and Gun Club, where enjoyed shooting trap. Roger enjoyed spending time at High Cliff State Park where he loved to show others "the view of Lambeau Field". He loved listening to everything from blues to Beethoven. Roger is survived by his wife Cindy;his mother-in-law, Doris Blank; special cousins, Bonnie (Wayne Vicker) Schmidt, CA, Sandy (Dennis) Korn, Winneconne and Gary (Sue) Schmidt, Neenah; his goddaughter, Angela Schmidt, Winneconne; other cousins, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Ella (Schmidt) Smith. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 21 at 6:30PM at the Lewin Funeral Home, Fremont. Visitation will be on Monday, at the funeral home, from 4PM until the time of service. Burial will be in Wolf River Cemetery.
