Roger Warren MillerEaton RapidsAge 76 of Eaton Rapids passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Mayfair Village Retirement Community in Columbus, Ohio.A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Nelson-House Funeral Home in Owosso. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Lansing. The family will receive friends that day from 9:00am until the time of service.Roger was born on December 30, 1940 to Francis and Martha Miller in DeWitt, Michigan. He graduated from Haslett High School with the class of 1959. He served in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1963. Roger married Alice Peabody on August 24, 1963 in Lansing.During his life, Roger was an avid grafter on his own apple orchard with 1,100 varieties of trees. For many years, he worked for Oldsmobile UAW 652, retiring in February of 1993. He was a member of the Michigan Nut Growers since 1972, with which he served 3 years as President. He was also a passionate MSU Spartans and Detroit Lions fan.Roger is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alice Miller; his children, Roger (Candace) Miller II, Brian Miller, and Michele (Curt) Cushman; his 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; his sister, Dixie Stahr; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.He is predeceased by his parents, Francis and Martha; and his siblings, Kay Cotton and Doug Miller.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.nelson-house.com.
