We gather here today to bid farewell to Rodney Carter, beloved husband, father, son, and brother. He was born on October 24, 1984, in Chicago, Illinois, to his parents Rodney Carter Sr. and Neil Bryant. Rodney leaves behind his two children, Trey Harper and Tía Harper, both with his loving spouse Lidia Harper.
Rodney lived a full life, graduating from Dunbar Vocational High School in 2004. He was a dedicated family man and a proud member of his community. His wit and charm will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Unfortunately, Rodney's life was cut short on September 1, 2025, due to complications from sickle cell disease. Despite his valiant fight against this illness, it ultimately claimed him as its victim. As we mourn his passing, let us remember the joy and love he brought into our lives.
He always wanted to be known as a fighter and never gave up with times got hard. His last few hours on the earth were of him smiling and remembering all memories shared with his brothers and sisters, with his children and wife, and with his nieces and nephews
His favorite saying was “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee” which means to move delicately but still be fierce and powerful. He was just that.
Rest in peace, Rodney. Your laughter and kindness will never be forgotten. May you find eternal peace in the arms of the angels.
You can to the family or in memory of Rodney Carter.
