Ronald Lynn Bailey, 59, of Mayport, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.Ron was born on May 30, 1957, in Brookville. He was the son of Roger and Norma Bailey of Mayport.Ron, nicknamed "Beatle," graduated from Punxsutawney Area High School in 1975, where he was an excellent drummer for the school band. Ron also graduated from Lincoln Welding School in Cleveland, Ohio. After he received his certification in welding, he started his career with B&R Welding. After that, he worked for the Shaw Coal Company as a welder and mechanic for more than 30 years.Earlier in his life, he was a volunteer
for the Oliveburg Volunteer Fire Company. He was also a member of the North Freedom UM Church.Ron enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, gardening and watching NASCAR racing. He also enjoyed boating, snowmobiling and riding his four-wheeler.Ron is survived by two sisters, Linda Barnacastle and husband David of Brookville and Debra Hoover and husband Bradley of Mayport; two nieces, Jaime Peffer of Mayport and Cara Hoover of New York, NY; a nephew, Kyle Hoover of Mayport; and a great-niece, McKenzie Peffer of Mayport.Ron was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Marcella and Martin Wagner, and his paternal grandparents, Pearl and Kenneth Bailey.A private family viewing and service will be held at Furlong Funeral Home, Gregory K. Furlong FD, corner of Broad St. and First Ave., Summerville, with Pastor Ken Duffee officiating.Interment will follow at the North Freedom UM Cemetery, Ringgold Township, Jefferson County.The family suggests that donations be made to the North Freedom UM Cemetery, in care of Debra Hoover, 284 Nolf Rd., Mayport, PA 16240.
