Robert Gardner Heidlebaugh, 77, of Las Vegas died on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, at the VA Hospital in Albuquerque.He was born on Aug. 8, 1939, in Honolulu to Elmer Heidlebaugh and Helen Gardner Heidlebaugh, who precede him in death.Robert was a research scientist, a metallurgical chemist, electronics engineer, a rocket engineering scientist and a teacher of math, chemistry and electronics at Weber State College for 19 years. He worked in New Mexico Highlands University chemistry department for 10 years and retired two years ago.Robert was also a veteran of the Air Force.He is survived by is spouse, Evelyn June Griggs Heidlebaugh, whom he married in 1997 at the Masonic Lodge in Las Vegas.He will be interred at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church.
