ROBERT CORWINLancaster: ROBERT F. CORWIN, age 95, passed away October 20, 2017 in Lancaster, Ohio.He was born on December 17, 1921 to Fred and Edith Corwin in Lancaster, Ohio. He was a graduate of Lancaster High School, class of 1940. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II surviving the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars. In 1948, he married Alice Ford, his wife of 69 years. He retired in 1978 after serving 34 years as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Lancaster. He was a cherished father and devoted husband who dedicated his life to God, his family, and his country. Robert was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church, in Lancaster, and enjoyed singing in the church choir. He loved to play the piano and an organ that he built himself. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He also spent many years as a volunteer at the Fairfield Medical Center.He is survived by his loving wife, Alice; daughters, Barb (Doug) Hindenlang and Sue (Ron) Smith; grandchildren, Jed (Mindy) Smith, Ben (Candace) Smith, Todd (Rachel) Smith, Beth (Dave) Gorsuch and Lisa (John) Mezquita; and 11 great grandchildren.Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday October 24, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Matthew Richardson officiating. Private burial will be held at Floral Hills Memory Gardens with the Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail conducting military rites. calling hours will be observed from 12 to 1pm Tuesday at the church.
