Rickey Burnette Tolbert, aged 63, passed away on September 8, 2024, in Gatesville, Texas. Born on October 11, 1960 in Texarkana, Arkansas. Rickey was the beloved first grandchild in his family, known for his down-to-earth and adventurous spirit, and a remarkable ability to bring laughter and joy to those around him.
Rickey was a proud attendee of the Texarkana, Arkansas School District during his formative years. In his career life, He was a general labor.
Throughout his life, Rickey was deeply committed to his faith. Having grown up attending College Hill COGIC Church, he later converted to Islam and was known as Mustafa within his religious community. His faith was a vital part of his life in the Islamic community.
Rickey's legacy is carried on by his daughter, Amiyoko Shabazz; 3 grandchildren Deontai Mitchell, Deiona McKinney, Lavail McKinney, and 2 great-grandchildren Zane and Zara Mckinney (twins), all residing in California. He is also survived by his brother, Mark Anthony Soils of Clear Lake, Texas; Special cousins, Bridgette (Tony) Sweet of Houston, Texas, Horace Tolbert of Spring, Texas, and Aubry Dornel (Charmaine) Tolbert of Aubrey, Texas; as well as other close family members and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha A. Soils-Tolbert; father, Robert (Bobo) Kelly; Grandmother and Grandfather who raised him, Hattie (Big Mama) Spivey and George (Popeye) Spivey.
Rickey's life was marked by his kindness, his adventurous spirit, and his profound ability to connect with others through humor and genuine interactions. He will be remembered, cherished, and kept alive in the hearts of those who loved him.
