He grew up and attended Downey High School and graduated in 1940. In 1942 he served in the United States Army as a rifleman.On August 18, 1962 he married Alice Waclawek at St. Mary's in Visalia, They made their family home in Visalia, CA where Richard was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a proud Farmer all of his life.Richard was preceded in death by his parents William and BarbaraLyons, his older sister Helen Gerth, his younger brother Robert Lyons, and his younger sister Dorothy Lyons.He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Alice (Waclawek) Lyons;three younger sisters Mary Lyons, Barbara Peltzer, and BettyHutcheson; one younger brother Patrick Lyons; his son Bill (Deborah) Lyons; his daughter Lisa (David) Cardoza; his daughterSusan (Kenneth) Mariboho; five grandchildren Megan (Gregory)Rice, Richard Cardoza, Korey Mariboho, Karlie Mariboho, and Karson Mariboho.Richard will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Miller Memorial Chapelm 1120 W. Goshen Ave., in Visalia, CA.
