Richard Lewis Ruff, 87 of Forest, passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on Thursday, Oct. 10, 1929 in Bedford County. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Ruff and a son, Danny Ruff. He is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Rachel P. Ruff; his sons, Ronnie (Juanell) Ruff, Ricky Ruff, Ricky Phelps; his step-sons, Donnie and Ronnie Phillips; his daughters, Linda (Terry) Smith, Carolyn (Doug) Kersey, Darlene (Rob) Provo, Donna Primm; his daughter-in-law, Bonnie C. Ruff; his brother, Cecil (Bertha) Ruff; his sisters, Lois Overstreet, Peggy Nester as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Pastor Eric Pendleton officiating. Interment will follow in Peaks Presbyterian Church & Community Cemetery. Arrangements by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
