Janick, Richard D.Richard D. Janick, 91 of Stevens Point, died Saturday May 13, 2017, at the Portage County Health Care Center. He was under the care of Heartland Hospice. Richard was born on October 17, 1925 in Milwaukee. He was the son of the late John & Albina (Zurawski) Janick. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He entered the service on February 29, 1944 at Fort Sheridan Illinois. He received the American Theater Service Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Service Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on May 13, 1946 at Camp McCoy Wisconsin. Richard married Reta Zweck on June 10, 1950, the couple later divorced.His marriage to Delores Kosobucki took place on August 2, 1980 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, his wife Delores survives. Richard worked as a Union Carpenter. He was a member of the Moose Family Center. He served as an Usher at the church, he enjoyed playing the lottery and scratch off tickets, dancing, fixing various things, playing the concertina and harmonica, loved food and spending time with his grandchildren.Survivors include his wife Delores Janick of Stevens Point. Children; David of Wisconsin Rapids, Daniel of Evanston Illinois, Denise (Emil) Zinke of Sussex, Donald of Wisconsin Rapids, Douglas of Sparta and Carrie (Matthew) Diehn of Junction City. Step-Children; David (Deborah) Kosobucki, Karen (David) Pawelski, and Diane (Mike) Woyak all of Stevens Point. 18 Grandchildren, 7 Great-Grandchildren, 7 Step-grandchildren and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Also survived by a sister; Leona Bandler of Glendale.He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Leander and John.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday May 18, 2017, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Guardian Angel cemetery. Visitation on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Pisarski Funeral Home Stevens Point and again on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Moose ritual at 6:45 p.m. and the parish rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials in Richards name will be established at a later date.
