Richard G. Christofferson1928 - 2015Richard G. Christofferson, 86, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully, with family by his side, Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at Brookside Care Center.He was born on March 14, 1928, to the late Walter and Jennie (Davis) Christofferson in Kenosha. He was educated in the schools of Kenosha and graduated from Kenosha High School.He entered the U.S. Marines on June 4, 1945. He was an SSgt serving in the Pacific Area and participated in the Occupation of Japan. He was honorably discharged on June 3, 1949.Richard married Carol L. May on Aug. 28, 1948 in Kenosha.Richard worked as a Kenosha fireman, owned and operated service stations and retired from AMC/Chrysler in 1988 after 22 years.He was a member of UAW Local 72 retirees.Richard loved NASCAR, working on cars, fishing and playing cards. After retirement he enjoyed traveling and participating in NHRA races with family and friends, going up north to Jordan Lake and to Sebring, FL.Richard is survived by his wife Carol, his children Gerry (Sandy) Christofferson of Novi, Mich., Karen Burden of Kenosha and Gary (Diana) Christofferson of Salem; his grandchildren Chris (Kari) Burden, Lindsay (Jeff) Deinhammer, Carrie (Brandon) Root, Andrew (Val) Christofferson and Josh Christofferson, his step grandchildren Ryan Andrekus and Alyssa (Dave) Krupp, his great grandchildren Jake, Hannah, Carter, Isabelle, Nolan, Oliver, Elliot and Tyler with two great grandsons on the way and his step great grandchildren Alex and Phoebe.He is preceded in death by his sister Lorraine O'Neil, Dean Christofferson, Dave Christofferson and Robert Christofferson.The family would like to thank the staff of Azura South Memory Care and Brookside Care Center for the compassionate care given to Richard. Funeral Services for Richard will be held on Monday, Feb. 16, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Lutheran Church (2001 – 80th Street). Visitation will held on Monday from 12:00 (Noon) until the time of service at the church.
