Renee Marie KoeniguerDes MoinesRenee Marie Koeniguer, 49, passed away on March 26, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 15, at 11:00am at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 2900 49th Street, Des Moines. Renee was born on February 18, 1968, in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines and attended Iowa State University in Ames. Renee is survived by her daughters, Jessica Lynn Koeniguer-Law and Sierra Morgan Koeniguer-Law of Des Moines. She is also survived by her mother, Sharon M. Koeniguer of West Des Moines, father Paul A. Koeniguer and stepmother Lori J. Day of Des Moines. Her siblings include Michelle (Wade) Herrick of West Des Moines; Joel (Ann) Koeniguer of Parkville, MO; Mark (Nancy) Koeniguer of Franklin, TN; stepsister Mindy (Clinton) Hodges of Lake Arrowhead, CA; and stepbrother Corey (Ann) Day of Waukee, IA. Nieces and nephews include Kayleen and Caleb Herrick, Colton and Cameron Koeniguer, Grant and Nicole Koeniguer, Sydney and Nolan Day. Renee will also be missed by her friends and extended family including Steven Dawson of Ventura, IA. Renee was preceded in death by her grandparents Ernest and Ruby Koeniguer and Raymond and Berniece Richardt of South Dakota, and her stepgrandmother Jeanne Dawson of Clear Lake, IA. A love of reading, writing, and learning was apparent across Renee's life, and it was a priority for her to inspire that same love within her daughters. Renee was very spiritual, and her writings, singing, humor, and kind heart often brought encouragement to others. She believed in God, loved her family and knew their love, and worked to overcome difficulties and injustice. Renee's body was cremated with inurnment at a later date. Donations in her memory will be directed to education for her daughters.
