Rene Weibel, 88, longtime resident of Stratton, passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, at Greeley.Rene was born on May 16, 1928, to William and Matilda (Huesman) Schmidt at St. Bernard, Neb.The Schmidts moved to Stratton where she lived until 2012, spending her remaining years in assisted living homes at Greeley.Rene attended schools in Stratton and graduated from high school in 1946. She married Andy Weibel in 1948 and they had three children.Rene worked a variety of jobs in Stratton and retired from Dischner's Grocery when she was 72.Rene's parents, husband and seven siblings preceded her in death.She is survived by her sons – Tim (Peggy) Weibel, Jim (Nancy) Weibel, daughter Cindy (Kevin) Herman, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, family and friends.Memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017, 10 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Stratton.
