Bridgeport, Connecticut - Rene Rojas, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2023, at the age of 58.

Rene was born on July 15, 1964, to Javier and Juanita Rojas. He grew up in the neighborhoods of Bridgeport, Connecticut, and attended Bassick High School, from where he graduated in 1981. Not stopping at high school, Rene went on to study at the University of Bridgeport.

Rene Rojas was a bright, energetic, and surprisingly tall man. He was always dedicated to his family and work, bringing his best self to both. For decades he worked with Sikorsky Aircraft, where he made long-lasting friendships and delivered his expertise in engineering. Rene retired in 2021, after 30 years of service, with a sense of pride and fulfillment for the work that he had accomplished.

One of Rene's greatest sources of joy was spending time with his three children: Rene Rojas Jr, Jermaine Simmons, and Anthony Pettway. Rene loved them dearly, and they were always the center of his life. He would drive them to soccer games, cheer them on at recitals, and coach them on life's most important lessons. Rene's love for his grandchildren was also unchanging, and he would never miss a chance to share laughter, stories, and candy with them.

Rene lived a full life, and his passing is a reminder of the importance of cherishing every moment. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and those who knew him.

The funeral service will be held on June 1, 2023, at Mount Aery Baptist Church in Bridgeport, Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association in memory of Rene Rojas.
