Reginald Dewayne Smith was born to Mr. William Smith and Mrs. Violet Elliso. He was affectionately known as "Red" to family and friends. Red attended Birmingham City Schools where he enjoyed playing basketball and running track. After high-school he entered the work world, where he put his hands to work in the construction field. He enjoyed coming and being with his family.

On May 26, 2023, Red was called to go home with his Heavenly Father. He was welcomed with open arms by his grandparents,aunts,uncle, and special nephew Darrell Spencer.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his parents, William Smith and Violet Ellison; his great legacy, his children, Thaise Davis "Thai", Antonio Davis "Tony", Christy Wright (Reginald Kemp), and Veronica Kemp; grandchildren, Makiyah, Jaquarius, Asiana, Tatiana, Shiana, Makenzie, Alan, Jordan, Antonio, Reginald, Aiden, and King; great grandchildren, Kylan and KaLani; siblings Yolande ( Ervin), Katrina(Amond), Jacquie, Valerie, Kimberly, Carlos, Christopher and Cedric; and lifetime friend and soul mate Susan Davis.
