Rebecca (Beckie) Leon (Leontarakis) Hoffman-Messina, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023 in Alexandria, VA. 

She was born March 9, 1935 in Columbia, SC, to the late Michael Leon (Leontarakis) from Kythera, GR and Andrianna (Anastasopoulos) Leontarakis from Kyparissia, GR. 

Her first husband and father of their three children, Jack Hoffman, died young, in 1966. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Kosma (Johnny C.) Leon and her sister, Kalliope L. Tompros. 

Beckie is survived by her three children, Kurt, John/Jay, and Trenna; five grandchildren, Melissa, Zachariah, Ehab, Paige and Tykie; and three great-grandchildren, Addison Faith, Violet-Ann Marie, and Mack. She leaves behind dearest of nieces, nephews, cousins, here and in Greece; also dearest distant kin, Brisbane, AU. 

Over the years, Beckie has lived in South Carolina, Washington DC, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Tennessee, Maryland, and Virginia. She has been a life-long member of the Greek Orthodox Church. She was retired from the Department of Defense in 1997. 

Family, friends and researching her historic Greek ancestors were her passion and delight. 

Beckie’s family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 4111 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suitland, MD. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to The Nativity of The Theotokos, 12326 Spotswood Furnace Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407.
