PFLUGERVILLE, Texas - Raymond Carl Shannon, 69, of Georgetown and formerly of Bradford, Pa., was killed in a tragic automobile accident on Wednesday (Sept. 21, 2016).He was born on July 10, 1947, in Bradford.He graduated from Bradford Area High School in 1965. Ray served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969. Following his time in the service, he obtained certifications in Weatherization, Home Inspection and Energy Auditing. He was very active in the local community, volunteering for the Round Rock Housing Authority, Round Rock Economic Development Committee and Round Rock Ethics Commission. Ray held various sales positions and was currently employed by Lone Star Overnight in Austin.He was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church in Round Rock. Ray had a personal relationship with the Lord, which was manifested in the way he led his life and treated all people. Ray was an avid reader, an amazing chef; he also enjoyed astronomy and nature. He was passionate about his family as well as his dog "Maddie." He would always go above and beyond to show his love. In his lifetime, Ray never met a stranger, possessing genuine love and consideration for people and always managing to maintain a smile.He is preceded in death by his parents, Grant Shannon and Dorothy Deloe; and his brother, Gregory Shannon.He is survived by his wife, Wanda Shannon of Georgetown; son, Erhin (Amy Grimes) Shannon of Round Rock; daughter, Gwen (Travis) Schirpik of Leander; three adoring grandchildren, Grayson Schirpik, Mary Schirpik and Poppy Schirpik of Leander; and brother, James (Marsha) Shannon of Bradford.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ray's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project www.woundedwarriorproject.org or to a military organization of the donor's choice.Please visit Raymond's memorial site at www.cookwaldencapitalparks.com, where you can leave memories and condolences for his family.
