RAYMOND B. KAMINSKY WHITING, IN Raymond B. Kaminsky, 77 of Whiting, passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Susan (nee Oganovich); dearest brother of Dolores (late Don) Banik of Valparaiso and the late Dorothy (late Michael) Sulich; dear brother-in-law of Patty (Mickey) Komar and Lucille (Dave) Dickerson both of Crown Point; cherished Godchildren, Kim Alahmadi and Danny Banik; proud uncle to many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews; many cousins. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016, 9:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting with the Rev. Mark Peres, C.PP.S., officiating; entombment, St. John Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00pm; parish wake service at the funeral home on Thursday at 4:30pm. Ray Kaminsky was born on November 9, 1939 to Julius and Johanna (Strbjak) Kaminsky. He was a lifelong resident of the Whiting- Robertsdale Community and was a graduate of Bishop Noll High School, Class of 1957. Ray was a US Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion, Whiting Post 80 (Memorial Services on Thursday at 6:30pm). He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Assoc., BR. 452 and was a retiree of the US Steel Co., Southworks, Chicago with a service of 15 years. Ray loved his garden, riding his bicycle on the trails throughout Robertsdale and looking out for the widows of his neighborhood, running errands or shoveling them out after a snowstorm. Ray loved baseball. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and for over 50 years, spent countless hours coaching, managing and maintaining the Robertsdale Little League. He wanted to make sure every child, no matter what their ability was, was given the opportunity to play baseball. He was honored in 1995 when the complex was named for him. A devoted husband, brother, uncle and friend to many, Ray will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the St. John School Endowment Fund or to the Robertsdale (Lakeshore Cal Ripken) Little League, would be appreciated. www.baranfh.com (219)659-4400
