Raymond A. Williams Obituary

Sep 30, 1953 - Apr 08, 2023

This obituary is administered by:

Raymond Williams, Sr., beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on April 08, 2023, at the age of 69. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Rose Williams (nee Forbes), and their three children, Trecia, Ray Jr., and Janell.

Raymond was born on September 30, 1953 in St. Mary, Jamaica, to his parents, Gerald Williams and Lynda Ricketts. As a youngster, he moved to Kingston where he attended Camperdown High School and graduated in 1975. Raymond's life was marked by hard work and commitment to his hobbies. While in high school, he formed the Aqua Youth Swim Club in 1973 where he served as an instructor and volunteered his time teaching young people to swim for more than 10 years. In July 1982, he married the love of his life, Rose, and together, they immigrated to the United States in 1984. After living in Los Angeles, CA and Philadelphia, PA, they settled in Mt. Vernon, NY, where they raised their children. Raymond worked at Quest Diagnostics for close to 30 years until his retirement in May 2022.

While Raymond's professional life was impressive, his personal life was equally fulfilling. He was a dedicated family man, and his greatest joy in life was spending time with his loved ones. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and always put his family first. Raymond is remembered for his love of sports, especially track and field. He shared this love with his children and grandchildren and spent his weekends coaching and cheering them from the stands. He was also an avid lover of photography and music as well as devoted countless hours bird watching and training birds.

Raymond will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community. He is survived by his wife, Rose, his children, Trecia, Raymond, Jr. and Janell, their spouses, and his five beautiful grandchildren--Isaiah, Raymonie, Nayla, Marshal and Nasir, whom he loved dearly. His commitment to hard work, family, and faith will always be remembered, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Camelot Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the First Reformed Church in Mount Vernon, NY.
