Ramon Fuentes Diaz-Arrastia1928-2016Dr. Ramon Fuentes Diaz-Arrastia died early in the morning on November 15, 2016 at his home. He was 88 years old. Elihut, his beloved wife of 61 years preceded him in death by only 11 months. He is also preceded in death by his parents, José María and Isabel and his sisters, Lourdes Mata, Margot Acosta and Consuelo Guerrero. Ramon leaves behind his sister Teresita Gomez and his children Ramon and his wife Jennifer, George and his wife Maria and Concepcion and her husband Edward Green. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Paul, Veronica, Anne, Elliot, Theresa, Robert, Rebecca and Madeleine. Dr. Diaz-Arrastia was born on February 4, 1928 in Havana, Cuba. He received his M.D. degree in 1952 from the University of Havana. Dr. Diaz-Arrastia emigrated from Cuba in 1968 and settled in Houston with his family in 1969. He practiced as a surgeon in the Houston area until his retirement in 1997. Dr. Diaz-Arrastia was a long time member of the medical staffs at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston and Polly Ryon Hospital in Richmond, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary recited at 7:00 PM, Thursday, November 17, 2016 in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors 8303 Katy Freeway Houston, TX 77024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Friday, November 18, 2016, 2016 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2140 Westheimer. The Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
