Un Vida Hermosa

Fresno, California - Resourceful. Affable. Modest. Imaginative. Respected. Open-hearted. That's Ramiro.

(R)eunited in heaven and rejoicing with his wife of more than 60 years, parents, brother, sister, oldest son, grandsons, daughter-in-law and other loved ones. He's likely BBQing for them, and burning the meat just a little.

(M)otivated to do better and be better, he was a hardworking man of many talents: Mariachi singer, carpenter, word puzzle whiz, painter, caretaker, handyman, etc. He spoke of the importance of adaptability, continuous growth, and doing what brings joy.

(R)esiliently took on life's challenges like raising a family in a new country, battling cancer, and recovering from a life-changing car accident. He attributed his outlook and fortunes to God, and always took time to pray and thank Him. For decades he volunteered in various capacities at Mt. Carmel where he built an amazing network of friends and compadres.

A small ode for the 87 year old ode-making jokester himself. Thank you for the overt and hidden life lessons, memories, and laughs. And, let's be honest, dad, you probably chuckled as you made your way to Heaven thinking the 4th of July fireworks were for your grand finale, and the thought that we'll now always celebrate you and America together.

Rosary and remembrance on Thursday, August 8 at 6 p.m. at Lisle Funeral Home. Funeral mass on Friday, August 9 at 10 a.m. in the Nativity Chapel at St. Peter's Cemetery.
