Prior to his passing on May 14, 2020
Ralph Charles III, better known to everyone as Rabbit, and his twin Rudolph Charles were born in Galveston Texas on July 7, 1945 to Ralph Charles II and Mae Audrey Charles. He moved with his parents and siblings to Watts California at the age of two; It is here where he established his roots.
Rabbit received his formal education in the Los Angeles Public School System, graduating from LA Jordan Highschool in 1963. He was then drafted into the United States Army where he served overseas in Germany for three years. After receiving an honorable discharge he returned home and began working for the VA hospital.
He was known for many things but to name a few, his love for music, welcoming all new babies to the family with a bite, being a lady’s man, his skilled craftmenship, and his undisputed skills on the Bar-B-Que grill. When asked how he learned how to grill so well he would simply say, “I got myself a pack of beer and sat out all day till I got it how I liked it!”
Though, not all of his responses were short and simple. Another attribute he was known for was his tremendous amount of wisdom and life advice; he truly had a desire to see people succeed and learn from his mistakes. Though he was a strict disciplinarian, children were always drawn to him and welcomed his company. Where ever he went he always brought a good time, music, and good food.
During 1971 he met and cultivated a relationnship with Carol, and from this union Tuesda' Dene was born in 1973. In 1984 he emarked on a new relationship with Joanna which led to thier marriage in 1987. It was from this union Rudolph II and Ronni NyChelle were born. They were married until Joanna's passing in February 2016.
Rabbit was proceeded in death by his parents Ralph Charles II and Mae Audrey Charles; His eldest brother Donnie Charles, Eldest Sister Julia Dotson, and his Wife Joanna Charles.
Left to mourne his absence are his children Tuesda' Vickers, Rudolph Charles II, and Ronni Walker; His elder brother Ronnie Charles, twin brother Rudolph Charles, and youngest sister Barbara Whitmore; His grandchildren Carzell, Jenai, Adryon, Ma'kye Vickers, Jameer, Zavier, Aniya Walker, Romee, Ryder, and expecting Baby Charles. To include, his host of bonus grandchildren and his girlfriend Eidith Jones.
