A Life Well Traveled

There are not enough words to encompass the greatness of Phyllis Wright.

On the twenty-first day of October 1948, Phyllis was born to parents Olen and Ida Ellis. The couple moved their family to Southern California, bouncing from Northridge to Orange County. Eventually, Phyllis graduated from Orange High School class of 1966 and moved back to Northridge. It was here that she fell in love and married Henry (Hank) Eugene Wright on the ninth of October 1971. The couple went on to have one child together and formed a blended family with Hank’s two other sons.

She met her best friend, Nancy, later that year and began an international adventure. From traverling the tropical jungles of Bali, Indonesia to the wine region of Bordeaux, France and the street markets of Marrakech, Morocco, she left her mark on the world. During her travels, she never shied away from excitement, having bungee jumped off the highest bridge in South Africa to even driving a formula one race car in California. If there is one thing anyone should remember about Phyllis, it’s that she created a welcoming and loving environment wherever she went.

In 2003, she moved to Kimberly, Idaho and in 2015, she moved to Twin Falls, Idaho. During this time, she drove a school bus for the city of Kimberly, played golf with her “Golf Girls” and scored a hole-in-one at the Pleasant Valley Golf Course at hole #7. In fact, there is a plaque commemorating this moment at the golf course to this day. This is just one example of how she created many everlasting memories with loved ones.

On April 10th 2022, Phyllis lost her life to cancer. She is survived by her son, Kevin, her life-long friend Nancy, and four grandchildren: Tim, Luke, Chloe, and Audrey.

There are many ways one can honor Phyllis, but the most significant being traveling to exotic locales, having one of her favorite drinks, a Gray Goose Martini, Up, with 3 Olives on the Side or a Bloody Mary, collecting snail figurines, listening to Elvis, and savoring the flavors of a quality glass of wine.

We love and Miss you.

You can to the family or in memory of Phyllis Wright.
