GARRETT — Persie Sumner, age 57, of Garrett unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016, at her Garrett home. She was born on September 11, 1959, in Hazard, Kentucky, to Eli and Hazel Sumner. Persie worked for over 30 years at both Strawberry's and Martin's Tavern in Garrett. Both of which her family owned. She was a member of the Garrett Eagles. Persie enjoyed knitting, shopping, gardening, taking pictures and family trips to Tennessee. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. She was a loving mother and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Sumner-Nodine and her fiancé, Benny Rollins, of Garrett and Nicole Kimmel and her fiancé, Josh Hamann, of Garrett; a son, Joey Rodman of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Bryit Sumner, Dru Nodine, James Kimmel and Adelyn Rodman; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Randy Pence of Garrett; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Bud and Trish Sumner of Kentucky, Coby and Dee Sumner of Garrett, Esom Sumner of Garrett and Danny Sumner of Garrett; her best friend, Rylene Snook of Garrett; and her Martin's Tavern family. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lee Cody and Ann Hall; and three brothers, Junior Sumner, John Sumner and Wayne Sumner. Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, October 5, 2016, from 3-7 p.m. at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 S. Wayne St. in Waterloo. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home in Waterloo. Officiating the funeral service will be the Rev. Ron Stambaugh.
