EAST BEND — Mrs. Peggy Louise Mayfield Priest, 83, of East Bend, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at her home. She was born on July 2, 1931, in Florida to the late Alfred and Flossie Mayfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 34 years, Clifford Priest; and son, Fill Priest. Those left to cherish her memory are three sons, Al and wife Bobbye Priest of Tobaccoville, Ray and wife Melanie Priest of Henton, West Virginia, and Jeff and wife Cathy Priest of Anthony, Florida; two daughters, Jeannett and husband Danny Monroe of East Bend and Lynn and husband Tommy Stanley of Elkin; two sisters, Jean and husband Bob Blair of Crystal River, Florida, and Joan and husband Cecil Bryant of Oklawaha, Florida; 16 grandchildren, Jennifer Wakefield, Chris Fenimore, Matthew Priest, Amanda Priest, Cathy Priest, Elizabeth Priest, Steven Whybrew, Allen Whybrew, Greg Whybrew, Danny Monroe Jr., Nick Monroe, Justin Priest, Jamie Priest, Jordan Gammons, Emily Simmons, and Austin Stanley; and 21 great-grandchildren. A funeral service for Mrs. Priest was held on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at 2 p.m. at East Bend Baptist Church with the Pastor Allen Boggs and Dr. Capps officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service on Friday at the church.
