Paz Casillan Gonzalez passed peacefully unto heaven surrounded by her loving family on April 24, 2017, in El Paso, Texas. She was born on November 21, 1925 to her beloved parents Cipriano and Juana Casillan in San Carlos, Pangasinan Province, Philippines. She was raised in the ancestral home of her father in San Carlos, surrounded by a large and prosperous family. Paz C. Gonzalez was a loving and loyal sister to Felisa, Marcelo, Genaro, Trinidad, Julito, and Conchita Casillan. She obtained her law degree on April 1951 from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines but gave up a blossoming career to marry Juan L Gonzalez, and together, they raised 10 children, 21 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. They built their strong family unit in the Northeast El Paso community. Paz Gonzalez was a woman of unyielding faith, imbuing an abiding sense of family, humility and community service to all of her children and grandchildren. She was active in her Catholic faith, especially at Blessed Sacrament Church, participated in local political activities and served on the governing board of the local St Vincent De Paul Society of El Paso. Some notable achievements include state level member of the Texas Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), founding member and past president of the Filipino -American Association of El Paso and a lay member of the Catholic Diocese of El Paso Ministries. She taught her children to love our God, nurture their family, and to serve their community, particularly those less fortunate in life. Her belief in the inherent goodness of all people guided her charitable outlook on life throughout her long, fruitful journey. She is predeceased by her husband, Juan L. Gonzalez, her parents and by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by all of her adoring children: Gordon (Diana) Gonzalez, Gloria Nickles, Glenn (Marge) Gonzalez, John (Marilyn) Gonzalez, Paz T. Gentry (Cambyse Teter), Juan (Annie) Gonzalez, Polly Rogers (Glen Gelinas), JoAnn (Marvin) Kutzman, Joel Gonzalez (Dan Murphy), Joseph (Meredith) Gonzalez and all her 21 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Visitation will be April 30, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Central. Funeral Mass will be held May 1, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 9025 Diana Drive, El Paso, Texas 79904. Burial services will follow immediately at Ft Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a memorial contribution may be sent to the St Vincent De Paul Society in the name of Paz C. Gonzalez to Blessed Sacrament Church.
