Pauline B Todd Obituary

Dec 06, 1931 - Apr 09, 2026

This obituary is administered by:

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Pauline B. Todd, who departed this world peacefully on April 9, 2026, at the age of 94. Born in the charming town of Richmond, Kentucky, on December 6, 1931, Pauline was the cherished daughter of the late Lee and Josie Todd. She was a beacon of light and strength for her family and community, touching countless lives with her kindness, devotion, and unwavering spirit.

She gave her Life to Christ at an early age at her then home church Goodloe Chapel Baptist Church in Brassfield, Kentucky. She later became a member of Elizabeth Predestinarian Church, St Paul AME, Peytontown Baptist, First Baptist and for last 21 years a Faithful member of the Tabernacle of Refuge and Transformation Ministry under the now pastorship of her grandson James E Todd.

Pauline was predeceased by her loving parents, her twin sister, seven other sisters, five brothers, a granddaughter, and a great-granddaughter. She is survived by a loving family who adored her endlessly: her seven children, Sentoria (WM) Dillingham, Robert (Rosemary) Pankins, Ethel Todd, Andre' (Charlotte ) Todd, Brenda Douglas, Paul (Adrienne) Todd, and Gregory Todd; a treasured goddaughter and niece, Betty (Robert) Walker; her bonus son and nephew, Floyd (Brenda) Covington; her dear sister-in-law, Merle Todd; 21 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 25 great-great-grandchildren and her special son Shannon Combs.

She also leaves behind her special niece Laura Gatewood, a host of nephews, nieces, and close friends Lenora Gray and JoAnn Walker, along with her cherished TRT Church Family.

Pauline, affectionately known as Miss Pauline and Mother Todd, graduated from Richmond High School and briefly attended Kentucky Beauty School. She soon realized her God-given talents in sewing and hairdressing, which she embraced wholeheartedly. Her career was marked by dedication and warmth, from her early days at the Colonel Restaurant, where patrons eagerly awaited a seat in her section, to her roles at the Parker Seal Factory, White Funeral Home, Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home (whenever her Special Son Shannon called on her) and The Salvation Army. No matter the demands of work and raising a large family, Pauline found time to sew clothes and style hair, enriching the lives of all she encountered.

A pillar of her community, Mother Todd, was a devoted member of the Tabernacle of Refuge and Transformation from 2005 until her physical attendance was no longer possible. Yet, her faith never waned as she continued to participate through Zoom and Facebook services. Her hobbies and interests reflected her deep commitment to service; she served as a church treasurer, recording secretary, usher, greeter, and was instrumental in outreach ministries. Pauline was a founding member of the Willing Workers Club and played a key role in establishing Girl Scout opportunities for children of color.

Pauline's personal qualities were as vibrant as her smile. She was firm yet loving, instilling in her children a steadfast faith and the importance of community. She was a perfectionist in her crafts of sewing and hairdressing, and her culinary skills were renowned, especially her fried chicken, fish and signature pies. Family gatherings were her joy, and she passed down the mantle of family unity to her eldest daughter and grandson, ensuring the Todd family remains strong and connected.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Amish Patel and staff, Dr. Ian Holbrook and staff, Amedisys and Baptist Health Deaconess Physical Therapist Team and the entire staff of Hospice Care plus and the Comp. Care Center.
