MS. Lee's legacy

Amityville, NY - Mrs. Pauleene Fields, lovingly known as “Lee,” passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025, in her home surrounded by her sister, in NY, after a courageous battle with chronic illness. She was 96 years old.

Longtime well-known resident of Suffolk County, she was born on October 8, 1928, in Amityville, NY, Lee was known for her spirited personality, sharp wit, and unwavering kindness. She was known for speaking the whole truth and didn't hold back while doing it, but she had a heart full of love and generosity. She was a dedicated member of Hollywood Baptist Church, serving faithfully as a Deaconess, food panty organizer, and neighborhood awareness advocate.

Lee was determined, resilient, hilariously funny, a neighborhood activist and a beloved School teacher She would open her door to help anyone in need and was loved by everyone she came in contact with. Lee was the next to the oldest of five sisters and two brothers. She attended and volunteered at Amityville high school. Through her years of volunteering, she touched the heart of many and enjoyed watching her neighborhood grow up and flourish though the years. She also had a deep curiosity for medicine and home remedies, often referring to medical books and acting as the family’s “personal triage nurse” before sending anyone to the doctor.

As a devoted study abroad assistant teacher, she traveled across the country and abroad, living in West Malling, United Kingdom for three years, before moving to Lakehurst, New Jersey, for another three. Hobbies & Interests

Ms. Lee joys in life included watching sports especially football, cooking, baking, shoe shopping, gardening, and catching up with her friends and sisters on a weekly basis. She also loved whole heartedly, attending church events and picking up people to attend her local church and community events.

In the last decade of her life, she found joy and relaxation in traveling to visit her grand kids and seeing places outside of New York. She especially enjoyed a good share of her histoires with the new generation and to show the difference of how things came about.
