PAUL D. HOSKINSON, 85 FREEPORT - Paul D. Hoskinson, 85 yrs. old, of Freeport passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013 at FHN Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 11, 1928 in Scotland County, MO., the son of Cyril B. and Grace Hoskinson. He attended grade and High School in Memphis, MO. On Dec. 5, 1948 he married Sue Jane Shibley in the Methodist Church in Memphis, Mo. Paul was employed as an Independent long-distant truck driver. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball and the Cubs. He liked to play ball with his children and grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Sue Jane, of Freeport; his children, Paula(Bob) Short, Freeport, Steven (Sally) Hoskinson, Rockford, Lorna (Steve) Howery, McFarland, WI, Jennifer (Alan) Asche, McFarland, WI., and Deann Cook, Freeport; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Joan Mankopf of Kirksville, Mo.; and a brother, Gordon Hoskinson of Coca, FL. The family would like to thank Paula Short and Robin Cook for their special care during his illness. Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Timothy; and grandsons, Bryan, John, and Sloan. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at the Schwarz Park Blvd. Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd., Freeport, Il. with Pastor John Lee of Faith United Methodist Church officiating. After the service he will be cremated and the burial of his cremains will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be after 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Schwarz Chapel until the time of service. A memorial has been established in his memory.
