Patricia C. (Burns) DeLisa, 93, died suddenly on October 19, 2016, in Oneonta, NY. She was born on September 11, 1923, in Spring Grove, IN. Among her fondest memories was growing up on a farm in Richmond, IN with her parents, Horace J. Burns and Esther M. (Albright) Burns; sister, Manette and brother, Horace Jr. (Jude). She graduated from Richmond High School in 1941 and received her R.N. from Reid Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Richmond in 1944. After enlisting in the Army Nurse Corps and completing basic training, she did graduate training in anesthesia at Billings General Hospital, Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN. She served overseas as a 1st Lt. Army Nurse and Nurse Anesthetist from 1945 to 1947, and met her husband, Dr. Dominick DeLisa, at the 130th Station Hospital in Heidelberg, Germany. They married on May 1, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Schenectady, NY in 1948 where they made their home, established a medical practice, and raised three daughters. Their favorite pastime was spending time together, and with family and friends, in the outdoors. They climbed all the high peaks in the Northeast, then trekked in the mountains of India, Pakistan, Nepal and Peru, among many other adventures. Pat was an extraordinarily compassionate and giving person. She was a dedicated an invaluable volunteer at the Schenectady Community Hospice for many years. Her kindhearted and sunny nature was a delight and an inspiration to many, and will be missed by all. She is survived by her daughters, Susan, Rebecca, and Jane (James Walker) DeLisa; and grandchildren, Jesse Jarrell, Louis Noss, Charles Noss, Elena Walker, and Nora Walker, and was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jude, sister, Manette (Burns) Elliott, and Dominick, her husband of nearly 59 years. A service in celebration of Patricia's life will take place in spring, 2017. The time and place will be published by Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta, NY.
