Pamela Steele, a long-time resident of the East Connecticut area, died Thursday the 19th of July at Sovah Health Center.  Born in 1955 in Connecticut, Pamela received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Education from Chapel Hill in 1951. 

Pamela married the love of her life, Donnie R. Martin in 1973. The couple settled in Martinsville in the late 1970's, where they raised their three children; Claudia, Steven and Brian.

Pamela spent more than 10 years in Virginia before relocating to Stamford 10 years ago to be closer to her family.

Pamela was a dedicated and hard worker.  She worked as a Nurse for Martinsville Medical for many years before retiring.

Pam was a devoted and loving mother.  She was very proud of her family and was excited to become a "Grammy" to her 7 grandchildren.  Pam loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her.  She would spend hours cooking and preparing for her company.

Pamela was known for her feisty, yet good sense of humor.  She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Pamela was the beloved wife of the late Donnie R. Martin, devoted mother of Claudia Still Draper, Steven Still, and the late Brian Still, loving "Grammy" of Derrick, Brandon, Trey, Alexander, Andrew, Shea, and Cole.  Bernadette was also very special to Timmy Patno & his wife Sara of Pepperell.

Family and friends will gather at the Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home, 103 Clearview Dr, Martinsville VA on Saturday, July 28th for Visitation from 11:00-1:00 p.m. immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
