Opal P. TarterOpal P. Tarter, 98, of Lafayette, formerly of Benton County, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2017.She was born on May 6, 1919 in Pulaski County, Kentucky to the late Joseph G. and Mary Liza (Muse) Hudson.In 1938, she married Elbert L. Tarter in Somerset, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on August 9, 2015 after 76 and one half years of marriage.Opal was a homemaker first and worked seasonally for Boswell Seed Company. She was a member of the Ladies Aid Society, enjoyed sewing, needlework, gardening, and being with her pets that she loved.Surviving are her son, Marvin (Jan) Tarter of Fillmore, IN; her daughter, Linda Tarter-Wolfe of Lafayette; step grandson, Kyle Hayward; 3 step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Opal was preceded in death by her siblings, Arnold, Donald, Raymond, Denton, Tessy, Elva, and Elsie and son-in-law, James Wolfe.A Private Graveside Service will be held at Boswell Cemetery.
