Opal Hooks entered this world on December 3, 1923 in Shreveport, LA , and transitioned on May 22, 2024 in San Bernardino, CA. She was a faithful military wife of celebrity photojournalist, Worshipful Master of Prince Hall No. 17, and first Black male NASA employee involved in moon-reach endeavors-Henry L. Hooks.
Opal lived her life with quiet elegance and grace, displaying a patient spirit in all her endeavors. She dedicated her time to helping various organizations in her community, and was named Senior Queen by the San Bernardino Black Culture Foundation, with husband Henry named King.
Opal Hooks will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for those around her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, namely Brenda Davenport, Richarda De Bouse, and niece Activist Greshun De Bouse-said to have Opal's spirit and mannerisms.
