It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we bid farewell to our dear friend and cherished community member, O’Neil James Fontenelle, who sadly left us on August 25, 2023. Born on June 3, 1971, in the picturesque town of Vieux Fort, Vieux-Fort, Saint Lucia, O’Neil's zest for life and infectious laughter brightened the lives of all who knew him.

Left to Mourn: His Wife Elsa Fontenelle ,Daughter Jenai Fontenelle student of St. Joseph's Convent. Mother: Julietta Fontenelle aka Florence. Sisters: Barbara Fontenelle aka Barbs, Veronica St. Catherine aka Vayvay and family, Zaria Fontenelle, Ashlyn Claude and family residing in New York, Tara James and family residing in Riverview. Brothers: Hamil Fontenelle and family,Mark Fontenelle aka Freddie and family residing in Canada, Bonnie Alexander and family Ashlyn Claude and family, Shervon Claude and family residing in New York, Alvin Poyotte and family, Jason Poyotte and family, Valdez Kisna and family. Adopted Brother Stephan Marcellin aka Zegger and family. Step Father Kenty Wilson. Mother in Law Judy James and family.Father in Law Renix Aldonza aka Shoone. 43 Nieces and Nephews including Laureen Fontenelle ,Ynessa James-Fontenello, Gianni Julien.

O’Neil was a true luminary in our beloved town, always ready with a smile and a kind word for everyone he encountered. He was known for his mischievous sense of humor, which could light up the darkest room and bring joy to even the dreariest of days. His laughter was contagious and could melt away any worries or troubles. You couldn't help but feel better in his presence.

One of O’Neil's greatest passions in life was soccer. From a young age, he dazzled us with his skills on the field, effortlessly maneuvering the ball and demonstrating an innate talent that left crowds in awe. His love for the sport was evident in every match he played, and his energy was positively electrifying. He was a beacon on the field, leading his teammates with skill and grace, and inspiring all who watched him play.

But perhaps O’Neil's most endearing quality was his unwavering love for his family and friends. He was a devoted son, a caring brother, uncle, and a loyal friend. Always there to lend an empathetic ear or offer a helping hand, O’Neil’s compassion knew no bounds. His warmth and kindness were a beacon of light in our lives, and his absence will be deeply felt by all.

As we celebrate O’Neil's life and mourn his untimely departure, let us remember him for the laughter he brought, the smiles he shared, and the indelible mark he left on our hearts. Farewell, dear friend. May your laughter continue to echo in our lives, reminding us of the joy you brought to the world.

Details: The thanksgiving service for the life of O'Neill Fontenelle aka Bocat will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Vieux Fort on 1st of September at 2:00 p.m.The body will be laid to rest at the Margaret 'Brian Private Cemetery, La Tourney.
